Markéta Křížová is a specialist in Ibero-American Studies at Charles University in Prague. Her academic interests include overseas expansion, cultural encounters in the Atlantic World, and migration.

In her lecture, she will examine the real, cultural, and symbolic connections between Central Europe and Latin America during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. She will explore the massive economic migration of the period within the context of colonialist discourses and nationalist rivalries on both sides of the Atlantic.
