Floexistence. Flow that won't go. Go. To a forest of stands. Stand. Listen. The wind speaks, you talk to the wind, it spins your head, your heart, it surgically dissects silence. Oh, the winds.
In his new outfit, Floex Ensemble composer, producer, and clarinetist Tomáš Dvořák returns to the core, to the pure magic, to the stripped-down beauty. This chamber sextet gives breath to Dvořák's compositions, arranged in great part by the composer and multi-instrumentalist, Jan Šikl. The performance includes material from Floex’ soundtracks that were instrumental in forming the spirit of the PC games: Machinarium, Samorost, and Papetura by Amanita Design, among others. The ensemble will introduce rearrangements of his studio material as well. Floex often connects multimedia arts with his music, his latest major project being the robot drummer Josef, which accompanies him during his shows and DJ sets. He comes to Chicago with a customized ensemble, inviting local musicians to join him.
And the machines are dancing. Body throws itself into digital realms, taking the most out of its cooling virtual walls. Floex is a mediator, communicating between the heat of dance, the expression of live music, and the precision of the cybernated electronic scores. He connects and enriches all of these spheres. Floex is pure exciting energy. With the Ensemble project, he uncovers a rather subtle, yet urgent side of neo-classical music.
